Kaliber Designs jewellery is made to be worn. Basic care will help keep cartridge brass and 925 sterling silver in good condition.
Cleaning cartridge brass
- Wipe the piece after wearing it with a clean, soft cloth.
- For a deeper clean, use mild soap and lukewarm water. Rinse carefully and dry it immediately.
- Use a non-abrasive jewellery polishing cloth if you want to restore shine.
- Do not use toothpaste, rough brushes, or abrasive cleaners. They can scratch the surface.
Cleaning 925 sterling silver
- Use a soft silver-polishing cloth to remove light tarnish.
- For general cleaning, use mild soap and lukewarm water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Avoid harsh silver dips unless the product instructions specifically say they are suitable for every material in the piece.
Preventing tarnish
- Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising, or doing heavy work.
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, sunscreen, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
- Put jewellery on after lotions and fragrances have dried.
- Wipe each piece before storing it. Moisture and skin oils can speed up tarnishing.
Storage
- Store jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Keep pieces separately in soft pouches or sealed bags to reduce scratching and exposure to air.
- An anti-tarnish strip can help when storing brass and sterling silver.
Tarnish is a normal surface reaction for brass and sterling silver. It does not mean the piece is damaged. If you are unsure how to clean a specific design, contact info@kaliberdesigns.co.nz.
