Kaliber Designs started during a COVID lockdown. I made a prototype ring from a bullet casing, showed a few friends, and they told me everyone should have one. That feedback stuck. What began as a hobby in my garage became what it is today — handmade jewellery that means something.
I grew up in Hawke's Bay with my parents, out on the water and in the hills. They taught me to fish, hunt and appreciate the outdoors. That connection to hunting, to memory, to the things we carry — that's what Kaliber is built on.
The craft
Every piece is handmade by me, in Hawke's Bay. The bands, the soldering, the finishing — it's all done by hand. Real bullet casings have natural scarring, marks from firing. I don't sand those out. They're part of the story.
Why real casings matter
A spent casing is just brass until someone decides it means something. Your first deer. First shot with your dad. A hunt you'll never forget. When we make your piece from your casing, we're not just crafting jewellery — we're turning a memory into something you wear every day.
